The basic principle of oxygen production using oxygen concentrators is the pressure swing process.

Step Ambient air is sucked in by a compressor and compressed in a container with a molecular sieve

step the nitrogen molecules are bound to the surface of the molecular sieve and thereby separated from the oxygen molecules that pass through the molecular sieve.

Step the molecular sieve is vented by flushing out the nitrogen in it with part of the oxygen obtained.
